Pond People

Designing a recruitment brand with purpose and precision

Client: The Pond (PondPeople)
Project: UX & UI design for website and user journeys
Focus: Clarity, usability, and brand-led storytelling
Role: UX strategy, user journey mapping, UI design & digital experience

The Challenge

The Pond is one of New Zealand’s leading creative and marketing recruitment agencies, working with two distinct audiences: hiring clients and job seekers. With a refreshed brand identity and a new positioning, “Add Expertise”, the challenge was to translate this bold direction into a digital experience that felt premium, confident, and easy to use.

The website needed to do more than look good. It had to work seamlessly for both audiences, support recruitment goals, and clearly communicate the value of Pond’s expertise.

Objectives

  • Support two core user groups
Clients and candidates, each with different needs
  • Create clear user journeys
Reduce friction and make navigation effortless
  • Strengthen brand storytelling
Reflect Pond’s new positioning and confidence
  • Improve usability
Make job discovery and engagement intuitive

Research & Strategy

Edit Studio began with strategy and UX workshops alongside the Pond team:

  • Understanding recruitment workflows and business goals
  • Identifying key actions for clients and job seekers
  • Mapping clear, purpose-driven user journeys

The strategy focused on clarity and focus, removing unnecessary complexity and ensuring every page had a clear role in guiding users forward.

Design & Execution

  1. User Journey Mapping
Distinct journeys were designed for hiring clients and candidates, ensuring each audience could find what they need quickly and confidently.
  2. Intuitive Navigation & Job Search
Navigation and search experiences were simplified to make job discovery fast, logical, and frustration-free.
  3. Brand-Led UI Design
The refreshed visual identity was translated into a clean, premium interface that reinforces Pond’s expertise and credibility.
  4. Strong Storytelling Through Design
Content structure and layouts were designed to support storytelling, clearly communicating Pond’s value, approach, and personality.

Final Outcome

  • A fast, focused website built around real user needs
  • Clear, intuitive journeys for both clients and job seekers
  • A confident digital presence that reflects Pond’s new brand direction

The result is a website that not only looks premium but actively supports Pond’s recruitment mission with clarity, confidence, and style.
