Kingmakers

Making racehorse ownership simple and exciting

Client: Kingmakers
Project: Redesigning the Kingmakers web experience
Focus: Making racehorse ownership simple, accessible & exciting for users
Role: Lead UX/UI design team

The Challenge

Kingmakers is a platform aimed at simplifying racehorse ownership, a concept that can feel complex and intimidating, especially for first-time users. The key challenge was to transform this intricate financial and emotional experience into something clear, trustworthy, and engaging.

Objectives

  1. Clarifying complicated concepts
Helps users understand what racehorse ownership means and how it works.
  2. Improve usability,
Deliver an intuitive journey from discovery through to sign-up and engagement.

  3. Build trust through design,
Make a traditionally exclusive experience feel welcoming and transparent.

  4. Elevate visual appeal,
Communicate excitement and credibility, while keeping the interface clean and user-centred.

Research & Strategy

To start, the Edit Studio team focused on understanding the user:

  • Who are potential buyers?
  • What assumptions do they have about horse ownership?
  • Where do users get confused or overwhelmed?

By mapping these insights to user journeys, the team identified key decision points and pain points that needed clearer guidance.

The strategy emphasised:

  • Simple navigation
  • Step-by-step onboarding
  • Readable, approachable explanations

Design & Execution

  1. Clear Information Architecture
Wireframes were developed that broke down racehorse ownership into digestible steps — from initial exploration to deeper engagement.
  2. Clean Layouts + Readable Content
Strong visuals and a clear content hierarchy ensured users could scan and understand complex ideas without feeling overwhelmed.
  3. Trust-First Visuals
The design prioritised a professional yet friendly aesthetic. Visual cues were optimised to reflect trustworthiness and excitement, essential emotions for a platform inviting financial participation.

Final Outcome

  • A user experience that turns a complex idea into something fun and easy to digest
  • A friendly, trustworthy interface that invites exploration
  • Strong visuals that support user confidence

As Edit Studio puts it: “Making racehorse ownership simple and exciting.”
